Amy Yelin is  an award-winning writer whose articles, essays and interviews have appeared in The Boston Globe, The Boston Globe Magazine, The Newburyport Daily News, The Merrimack River Current, University of New Hampshire Magazine, The Writer’s Chronicle,  ImperfectParent, Errant Parent, Literary Mama, the Gettysburg Review, New Plains Review and other publications.

Her essay, “Torn,” originally published in the Baltimore Review, was selected as a notable essay of 2006 in the Best American Essays 2007. She also has essays  in the anthologies Mamas and Papas  and Tarnished: True Tales of Innocence Lost. Excerpts from her interview with author Amy Krouse Rosenthal appear in The Autobiographer’s Handbook: The 826 National Guide to Writing Your Memoir, edited by Jennifer Traig. She  also won Skirt Magazine’s “This We Believe” contest and recorded her essay “On Magic” for a radio special on WEKU, a national public radio station.

For more than six years, Amy has  also worked at Lahey Clinic, a hospital in Burlington, Massachusetts, writing marketing materials, health and wellness articles and web content. She translates complex medical information into understandable content in an effort to educate readers. She is comfortable interviewing patients, physicians and other health care providers.

In addition, Amy has extensive experience writing for non-profit organizations and is a talented copywriter who has worked with clients such as Raytheon, Monster.com, and EF Eduation’s Cultural Care Au Pair.

Amy earned her MFA in creative writing at Lesley University, where she now mentors students in interviewing authors,  personal essay writing  and memoir as part of the program’s interdisciplinary component.  She also teaches for Grub Street and is the recipient of scholarships to the Norman Mailer Writer’s Colony and the Prague Summer Writing program.

Amy lives just outside Boston with her husband, two boys and many toys and books.
